The biggest festivals get the headlines, but the best experiences often happen at smaller events. Under 15,000 capacity, you get shorter queues, genuine community, better sound quality, and the feeling that you've discovered something special.

"Small" doesn't mean one thing. In this guide it covers intimate electronic weekenders (~1,600 people) through to independently minded multi-stage camping festivals (~15,000). Every entry is verified for 2026 dates, location and ticket status β€” including the ones that have already happened or sold out, because honesty is the point.

Tips for Small Festival First-Timers

Book early. These festivals sell out fast β€” often before the lineup is announced. Trust the curation and commit.

Bring cash. Some smaller festivals have limited card payment infrastructure.

Embrace the unknown. The lineup won't have many household names. That's the point. Go to everything and discover.

Talk to people. Small festivals attract passionate, interesting people. The conversations are half the experience.
