The UK’s only evidence-based inclusion rating for festivals. We audit festivals across six dimensions so you can find the ones that welcome everyone — not just take their word for it.
Festival listings tell you the line-up and the ticket price. They rarely tell you whether the event is genuinely accessible, affordable, safe and welcoming. Elsewhere in the sector, inclusion is measured one dimension at a time — disability access here, sustainability there — or reduced to a membership pledge that tracks nothing.
The FestivalFocus Inclusion Rating is the first to bring these together into a single, comparable, evidence-based view — so inclusion becomes something you can actually browse, filter and compare.
Disabled access, viewing platforms, accessible facilities and the presence of a published access scheme or Access Card acceptance.
Ticket affordability, payment plans, concessions, low-income schemes and the real cost of attending.
Multilingual information, signage and support for non-English-speaking and international attendees.
Breadth of programming and representation across the line-up, audience and the cultures a festival platforms.
Sustainability practices, travel access and the environmental footprint of attending.
Welfare provision, safer-spaces policies, harm-reduction, reporting routes and support on site.
Each dimension is scored from 0 to 10 against published, verifiable evidence — a festival’s own accessibility information, access-scheme tiers, welfare and safer-spaces policies, pricing and concessions, programming and sustainability disclosures. The six dimensions combine into an overall score. Every audit is attributed and dated, and carried out under the GoldBerry evidence-based method — not an opinion poll or a self-certification.
Ratings reflect the evidence available at the time of audit and are our honest assessment of it. They are not a substitute for a festival’s own official accessibility information — always check directly for your specific needs.
We rate on evidence, and we’d always rather rate on complete evidence. If you run a festival and believe your rating is out of date, missing information, or wrong, tell us — send the evidence and we’ll review and re-audit promptly, and correct anything we’ve got wrong.
Improved your access provision, welfare or pricing since we last looked? That’s exactly what we want to capture. A better festival should show a better rating.
